Sanding Complex Wood Molding

Question: I'm trying to sand an intricate molding without rounding over the crisp edges. Are there any tricks that will help me?

Answer: You can try using automotive body filler (Such as Bondo) to create a sanding block. To make the custom sanding block, lay a piece of wax paper over the molding and press the putty firmly into place. When the putty dries you can use it to hold the sandpaper into the correct shape for the molding.
